Depression is a very self-deprecating illness. When I am at my lowest I am constantly demeaning myself. What I forget is the forgiveness I should give myself. Rather than striking myself with metaphorical whips and judgement, I should be treating myself gently and with love. Through this painting I wanted to remind myself of that idea.
