Boundaries

This painting was inspired by a trip I took to Africa. Barbed wire has always represented fear and unrest in my mind. But for a fragile tree, or group of people, barbed wire may also represent safety- keeping harm at bay. In other words, boundaries are interesting because they come up during feelings of fear but also may help create feelings of safety.
