There are countless stories across cultures about the creation of life. Two common points of view on the birth of life is religion and science. In my painting I depict the relationship between religion and science. I believe that in describing the creation of life, one must not need to choose between religion or science. Rather, we can focus on both. The stark, purple diagonal line represents the major role religion has played in many stories of creation. The purple horizontal line represents science. What we've learned about the role of science in the creation of life is influencing what people are learning about the beginning of time. While we learn more about science, we can continue to keep our religious beliefs. We are no longer living in a "either, or" society, but one where we can have "both, and" beliefs.
