After visiting China, I was struck by the similarities between the confident Chinese women and the elements of nature that surrounded them. Women dressed in traditional Chinese garb stood statuesquely among the bamboo stalks that lined the paths they traversed on. As I watched, the bamboo stalks stood tall as a gentle breeze moved through the landscape. Just like the bamboo, the local women stood tall, confident in their traditions and way of life. Both the nature and people reminded me that although at times we feel alone, we still can stand confident in where we have come from, who we are and who we will become.
