My work reflects a search for a deeper understanding of the world around me.
Art is a mediator between the world of the artist and that of the viewer; it instigates a journey in which the viewer moves from being a simple spectator to a participant in the artist’s own quest for aesthetic and emotional truth. In order to enter into this relationship both the artist and the viewer must let go of their expectations of how things should be and allow for the impossible to become visible.
In the beginning my work was about studying light and I was hesitant in my subject matter and artistic choices. As I grew more comfortable in my medium I moved from the vision of light through windows to a more abstract understanding of the interplay of light and the world. My current work takes these lessons in the abstract into the realm of the primitive as I seek to capture the essence of objects, the beauty of creation at its very basic.
